"...compression reduces transients in a waveform." While that might be true, it isn't always the story. Transients are not the only part of a signal where the compressor might get triggered. Besides, compression is often applied so that most of the transient is preserved. The next sentence alone describes compressor more truthfully. -Veezay 13:02, 3 February 2008 (PST)

Veezay Thanks for pointing this out. How would you change the article to more accurately reflect/explain compression to new and experienced users? I agree with you, and it should be changed to reflect this. I think alot of users don't correctly understand the different parts of the wave in general and more pertinent to this how they interact with compression. I removed the transient part. Now it describes compressor pretty simply, but still gives an example of a bit more complicated use mentioning the snare drum compression. Also fixed some minor things throughout the article, such as replaced every db with dB. Veezay 16:25, 10 February 2008 (PST)
