Their is some question of whether the 3 to 1 is between the sound source or the microphones. the wikipedia picture pic of three to 1 rule is showing the 3x distance to the other microphone. While similar i think from experience and the way the physics work it would be between sound source and microphone. This is why I constructed new diagrams for the page - Nathan May 15 2007
