What is the Firebox
The FireBox is an DAW Audio Interface designed specifically for portable recording. It can run off of FireWire bus power (a.k.a. it draws power from your laptop) allowing you to record without an external power source.
The FireBox comes with two Microphone Preamps's with 45 Db of gain. The microphone inputs are combo jack that accepts wither 1/4-inch TRS jacks or standard XML jacks. This means you can also easily use the preamps for instruments. In particular, it is possible to get a nice, jazzy, and clean sound using the preamps with an electric guitar, which you can then ReAmp later in the production.

Quotes and Reviews
"In short, it exceeded my expectations on every front: noise, vocal and instrument clarity, headroom and flexibility. It's a great little box that I do not intend to abandon even when I begin tricking out my home studio with higher-end gear down the road." Digital Producer Magazine, Review By Dave Nagel
