PPM Meter

This article is a stub... Please help wiki recording by expanding it.

PPM stands for Peak Program Meters, and basically shows you the peak of your signal. It is nice when you want to know if you have the possibility of overloading the signal path, but is less helpful for showing overall loudness than a VU Meter. PPM is the standard for modern day consumer audio gear and if the meter does not specify is most likely PPM. PPM's are rarely if ever not LED's unlike VU meters that can commonly be seen displayed by a needle however this is the most rudimentary of ways to distinguish between them and has many exceptions.
