What does Hertz Mean?

Hertz is a unit of time, meaning "once per second". Hertz is abbreviated Hz. Hertz can be used to measure any periodic event, and in the audio world, it's used to measure the frequency of a waveform. For example, a 30 Hz wave completes 30 cycles per second.

Where are Hertz used?

Audio frequencies (especially for purposes of equalization) are measured in Hz and KHz. One Kilohertz (KHz) equals 1,000 Hz.

Fun Facts

The frequency range of human hearing is approximately 20 Hz - 20 KHz. However we can feel if they are loud enough, frequencies below 20hz. Dogs and other animals have a much wider frequency range that they can hear.
