Help:Editing
From WikiRecording
WikiRecording is a Wiki, which means that anyone can easily edit any article and have those changes posted immediately to that article. Here are some steps you can take to become an expert WikiRecording editor. Don't have the vast knowledge or years of recording experience to add articles? No problem. Just correct small errors or vandalism, and occasionally add what information you can, then the WikiRecording will be that much better. But add as much as you can! Its your contributions that make this site possible.

Read the Wiki
The easiest way to get started is simply to read the Wiki. Get a feel for how articles are put together: the writing style, the layout of information, etc.
Begin Editing
Once you feel you're comfortable enough to add information, start by editing existing articles: post about a microphone you own, add an audio sample you've recorded, make a note of where a piece of equipment has been used, and so on. Simply click on the "Edit this page" tab at the top (or the edit link on the right or bottom) of a Wiki page. This will bring you to a page with a text box containing the editable text of that page.
You should write a short edit summary in the small field below the edit-box. When you have finished, press "Show preview" to see how your changes will look. If you're happy with what you see, then press "Save" and your changes will be immediately applied to the article. Do not "sign" edits you make to articles (the software keeps track of who makes every change).
In WikiRecording, text is formatted by "marking up" parts of your text with special character combinations. Try out formatting; the buttons on top of the edit-box will help you out, and remember that "Show preview" will give you an idea of what'll happen. Don't worry if you mess up; you can edit it back to the way it was, or someone more experienced will correct your error later on. The important thing is you learn.
Learning wiki Markup
Learning wiki markup will help you make your articles well organized and pretty as a picture.

Creating your own articles
After reading and editing many of the articles, you will probably find that an article you want doesn't exist. Or perhaps you clicked on a red article that simply led you to a blank editing page. Well, here's your chance to shine!
Take some time, surf the net and scavange through your favorite forums (TapeOp is my personal favorite), and write that article yourself! It doesn't even have to be complete, just write about what you can find.
Creating an article is easy. Simply go to the Main Page and use the form provided at the top.
Keep in mind that you must cite all the resources you use and never to quote more than a sentence or two without permission from the copyright holder.
It is also helpful to take a look at the Style Guide on the General Help Page.
Managing Articles
If you want to monitor the changes in a particular article, you can add it to your watch list by clicking the "Watch" tab on top of the article you want to monitor. This will add the article under "my watchlist" in the upper-right corner of your screen, and will bold changes to the article in Recent Changes so you can see them better.
Manage WikiRecording
If you want to make WikiRecording your hobby, then you may want to connect with others dedicated to WikiRecording and form editing groups to oversee certain parts of WikiRecording. Editing groups make sure information is accurate, peer review for vandalism, and correct formatting or template mistakes.
