Green Bullet

What is the Green Bullet?
The Shure "Green Bullet" has a long history as one of the early versions of Shure's famed Unidyne Dynamic Microphone capsule.
What is it Used For?
Used for everything from paging systems to sound reinforcement, the Green Bullet is best known as a specialty mic for harmonica.
Shure's current Green Bullet model, the 520DX, comes supplied wired for high impedance with a 1/4" phone plug, intended for direct connection to a guitar amplifier. In its stock configuration, the 520DX is intended to produce a dirty blues harp sound when cupped in the player's hands.
However, the Green Bullet also excels in several other applications: it is great for "telephone" style vocals, due to its bandwidth-limited response, and also produces a righteous sound when close-micing steel-string acoustic slide guitar.
Modifications
The Green Bullet can be modified for low-impedance, balanced output, for connection to a standard microphone preamplifier. The shockmount for the KSM27 can ingeniously support the Green Bullet; alternatively, the volume control can be replaced with a standard threaded mic clip mount.
