What Is WikiRecording?
WikiRecording is a free online guide to audio recording that anyone can edit. It is based off of the MediaWiki engine that was originally developed to run Wikipedia.
History
This guide was founded in 2005 by E Einowski, currently the admin and manager of WikiRecording, on the principle that information should be exchanged openly for the betterment of the community. We think people have a right to use information to help themselves and the community. The only way to innovate is to provide a groundwork of knowledge in which individuals and the community can expand upon and develop further.
Key People
E Einowski
E Einowski (Yes, that is his real, legal name. And no, it does not stand for anything.) founded WikiRecording and is the Administrator and Moderator for the site (along with head code monkey.) He founded the site while still a student at St. John's College, Santa Fe (www.stjohnscollege.edu) after running a now defunct cd review website called CD Babel.
His experience at CD Babel was instrumental in the conception of this project. Finding that so many independent artists were now recording themselves, he decided there was a need for a more complete, easy to read, and up to date resource about Audio Recording than was available at the time. Frustrated with the unorganized and conversational nature of forums, the decision was made that this new guide to be a wiki, inspired by Wikipedia.
E currently lives in Portland, Oregon and runs a mobile recording studio. His podcast, Open Mic Scout, features recordings from Open Mics around Portland (mostly recorded at Zilla Saké) in their full "studio-quality" multi-track glory. He has been recording bands since the age of 15 (most recently Mike Esterheld's latest album.
Nathan Stanton
Nathan "The Naturalizer" Stanton, E's childhood friend, studied audio recording at NYU's Clive Davis Department of Recorded Music. He worked with E Jeff on writing and structuring the format and original content of the site. Nathan's stellar instructors, their handouts and class notes, as well as bits and pieces of knowledge picked up along the way helped in the writing and editing many of the first articles on WikiRecording. Professors: Nicholas Sansano, Rod Hui, and Jim Anderson all provided invaluable knowledge and insight into the recording process. Nathan is working to set up The Abbey a community based music venue + artist services provider in Asheville NC.

This means, for instance, that you may reprint any article here on your own website as long as you link back to the original article, or you could compile all the articles into a useful book and sell that book at a profit as long as the source is sighted.
Fun Facts
- The word "wiki" means quick and refers to the speedy nature in which articles written on this site can be edited and updated by the community. If you ever go to Hawaii, the public bus system is named "WikiWiki".
